— A pet food business in Houston got a major boost Wednesday when it was announced it would reopen.

The pet food store, Essence Pet Food, had been closed for months after it was shuttered in July, when it closed a branch in Philadelphia.

It reopened on Tuesday, but the owners were able to move the operation to a new location in Houston because of a change in state law.

Essence Pet Feeds owner Jennifer Smith says she has not yet heard of any problems in the new location.

But the move is expected to be difficult.

“I think it’s going to be a struggle because there are no refrigerators,” Smith said.

She says she hopes to get a refund.

Smith says she expects the new owners to keep the same quality of pet food as before, and to keep up with changes in pet food regulations in the state.

We will still be able to do everything we’ve always done,” Smith says.
