Purina will close its pet food division after it announced the end of its pet-food business in North America, the company said Tuesday.
The pet food and pet feed business will be spun off into a separate business.
Purina Pet Food Group will remain in North American operations and will be dissolved, the brand said in a statement.
Purinna, which was founded in 1989, is the world’s largest purina company and the third-largest purina brand after Nestle and Mars.
Purins pet foods are marketed to both pets and people.
The company’s pet foods include Purina’s Purebred Premium Blend, Purebred Organic, Pure Breed, Purina Signature, Purins Choice, Pure Grain and Pure Grain Premium.
Purinas pet food line was launched in 1997, but it has been a profitable business for Purina since then.
Purinos pet foods have been on the market since 2001.
